The Russian oligarchs who live in the fabulously expensive Boltons, Kensington, London, put up their "dead tasteful" ten thousand tiny white bulb strings on the branches of their trees about three weeks ago. I ride through there twice daily, so I notice this stuff. Aways a couple of blacked out Range Rovers and a poor security bloke pacing up and down in all weathers. I don't think the geezer himself is ever there...but hey, who cares about the overheads.

Directly opposite is another multi-million pound, identical house. There are flashing Santas at every window and all the rest. He is climbing all over the place. It's like A3 Christmas bling in Speed. I think the owner is taking the piss...:bravo:

I got a Christmas card from a (very) elderly relative in Canada today. I like her a lot, but it was not east to be happy to see a Christmas card already.

It was quite a lot east, compared to Canada!

I've somehow got to find an 'Untterly Inappropriate Secret Santa*' gift this week for our works meal on Sunday, as well as make a whole load of recycled jewellery for a craft fair, on Saturday! Eeek! Then I can properly think about Christmas.

*Our variation on the game: we each pick a name out of a hat, and have to buy that person something completely innapropriate for them - preferably with a bit of thought, not just something randomly rude or tacky. For ethical reasons, it must be from a charity shop, and no more than a fiver.
