I'd imagine it's probably a still from a video. Otherwise a camera hung round your neck with the timer would work.

I followed this guy's blog for a few days, it was on the front page of CGOAB for several days. He has a lot of pictures of himself, and I think he's traveling alone...but the pictures would be him riding by and I couldn't figure out how he was doing it without a remote shutter release or something, but Ben Lovejoy is probably right, its from a video camera.

Nope. From another of his shots: "Another self-timed shot made by strapping my SLR with an 11mm lens around my chest with a bungee and setting the two-second timer." ... simple, really!!

Doubt he made these with his SLR tied to his chest, but guess he did use the auto timer...he sure spends a lot of his time setting up pictures of himself.

My auto timer only has a 10 second delay. I'd never get back to the bike in time!
I once attempted to get an action shot of me swinging on a rope strung fro a tree - no, not like that! - which entailed pressing the button, racing down a bank and up the other side to grab the rope. After about 4 Rab C Nesbitt shots, I gave up.

Closest I've come to the OP is using the 2 second timer on my SLR, trigger the shutter with one hand, grab hold of the body and try to stead the shot for 2 seconds, wait for the bleep.

The result is similar, but with only one hand on the bars, like this:

That's Paris, Arc de Triomphe, entering a multi lane roundabout, on cobbles, at dusk, in the rush hour. Hairy.

My compact, on the other hand lives on timer mode. Normally a 90 minute delay, then once a minute interval shots. Gives me time to ride from home to the FNRttC, and then snaps from there to the coast

What camera is that - that it allows that sort of timing set up?
