When I try to access Amazon.co.uk or .com my Adaware software warns me that:

Visiting this site may harm your computer!

The website you are visiting appears to contain malware or exploits. Malware can harm your computer or otherwise operate without your consent. Just visiting a website that hosts malware may infect your computer.

By clicking on the "Continue to site" button,
you understand that this site has been flagged and may harm your computer.

but Amazon.fr is ok. Anyone else got this problem?

Are you accessing the website by putting amazon.co.uk straight into your browser's URL bar, or are you clicking on a link that you may have received via a supposed marketing email?

If you're clicking on a link rather than using Google or typing in the URL yourself, you could be getting redirected to a potential phishing site.

Is Ad-aware actually warning you about Amazon? Can you check the URL it thinks is dodgy? You might have picked up a nasty which redirects your browser. I wonder what the ip address for the Amazon server is.

Amazon has been fine for me this morning, and it is still ok now.

The redirect theory sounds most likely, however I have restored Windows to 27/6/12, a point before I installed 14 updates (this morning) and also before I allowed one of those irritating Java updates, too. Adaware now allows Amazon.co.uk and .com access. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to keep a problem log so I doubt if I can check the address now. The 2 Amazon sites were the only affected ones, every other site I tried was fine.

I'll reinstall the windows stuff and see if it makes any difference, I'd be surprised if it had any connection though.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Well I have reinstalled the Windows update and now Adaware's warning is back! It would seem that the problem is in Windows updates unlikely as it sounds. I have not installed the Java updates yet.

The information on the address bar of Adaware's warning is:

http://toolbar.lavasoft.com/unsafe.aspx?url=www.amazon.co.uk/
or
http://toolbar.lavasoft.com/unsafe.aspx?url=www.amazon.com/

So it would seem that it's the real Amazon site it doesn't like and not a redirect.

However, using the IP address: 178.236.5.39 gets me straight onto Amazon, no warning.

Wow, how bizarre!

I'm a big fan of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. But I'm an even bigger fan of industrial strength antivirus such as Kaspersky.
If you're not into paying for protection the best rated I found was Avast, which is a freebie that loves to remind you that there's a paid version too.
