I didn't research them, I just lazily copied and pasted them from another forum where somebody else thinks Amir Khan is a waste of space.

Clearly not. The report of the 2009 incident, for instance, makes it fairly clear he wasn't in any way at fault - a cyclist rides across a crossing so suddenly that oncoming traffic has to brake to avoid him. No injury and no-one prosecuted.

Well he's achieved a massive amount in his limited time, not many people have an Olympic medal, and even fewer are world champions. I don't think he's a wast of space, personally.

This incident wasn't exactly impressive though...

The Bolton News said:
The accident happened on March 2, 2006, as foundry worker Mr Hatton was crossing Bradshawgate in Bolton town centre on his way from work to the Balmoral pub.

A court was told that the boxer sped along the road in his high-powered BMW 6 Series convertible at speeds of up to 47mph. He swerved round cars which had stopped for a red light, hitting Mr Hatton on a pelican crossing.

Mr Hatton's right leg was detached from his hip in the accident and he was left with a metal rod and pins in his leg.

In October last year Khan was found guilty at Bolton Crown Court of driving without due care and attention. He was fined £1,000 and banned from driving for six months.

Khan should have been more careful. It behoves people who drive cars to take care at zebra crossings. And as for the other one........

Look, we can agree to disagree. In my view he's a little shoot.

But you make that accusation without even meeting him, it's just based on newspaper articles. It's just a classic case of 'grumpy cyclist', you can't be helped, you've been suffering for too many years.

Its like Tyson. People cant seem to talk about him without mentioning "yeah but he's a rapist who bites guy's ears off in the ring.."

I understand Khan has acted like a prat in his car, but come on, lets talk boxing. Even Chris Hoy smashed his car up recently.

TBH I can't see that he did anything wrong - but the previous incident was a) fairly serious and b) 100% his fault.

As testosterone-fuelled sportsmen go, I would put him marginally at the more acceptable end of the scale. He isn't a hero just because he can throw a punch, but he isn't the Spawn of Satan just because he's rich and well known. He doesn't shag around and AFAIK his charity work is genuine.

I would contrast him with Naseem Hamed, who gives the impression of being an arrogant unprincipled hooligan who used to box because he liked hitting people. Not that I've met him either.

Have to say though, Prince Naz is a hero of mine, he was a great showman in the ring and his arrogance bought a lot to the sport.

I remember seeing him interviewed on the TV and he seemed like a nice young man, and I agree about Hamed, however that doesn't get away from the fact that Khan is a nice young man who evidently drives like an idiot! Give him a lifetime ban and I'd be happy.

Khan got Amirous with Rooney tart” - a fine headline if ever there was one.
Well there you go. I don't read the Sun; and if I did, I don't think I would believe much of what I saw.

It can't do much for a girl's self esteem, can it? "And what do you hope to do with your life, Jenny?"

I saw Hamed fight Tommy "Boom Boom" Johnson in the late 90s.

Awesome - made the hairs stand on the back of my neck. Adrenaline, tension, power, thought, skill. I respected all the boxers that night - you're alone in that ring.

I boxed as a kid and it's the hardest sport I've taken up. But enjoyable as well. And poetical once you get the body in synch with the mind.

I remember sparring once and remember feigning with the left, stepping to his right and taking him out with a right hook to the chin.

I was only 13 but still remember the sweetness of the feeling now.

Have done basic martial arts in the past (chinese and kick boxing) I can definately empathise with that. I REALLY didnt like hitting people though, so dropped out of it after about 2 years. My Brother is a former national Amatuer San Da champ too:

He's a bit old in that though, LOL! His best fights were in his late 20s some 5 years back. Trouble was none of us were allowed to film it all due to club arguments.. such is life with small clubs vying for champs and glory.

Best fight I EVER saw (on telly sadly, I was about 14 at the time) was Eubank v Benn. Benn had his jaw broken in 3 places and it was just after the Watson fight. Things were a bit tense with the officials, to say the least.
