Did someone say they were on Panaracer GravelKings? I wonder what type? When I researched them for the gravel versions, the feedback was the standard version were made of cheese, but the "plus2 / "+" version with extra puncture protection was very good.
I have been pleased with my Semi-Slick + 's, although I'm yet to broadcast on YouTube about them

Maybe ... but I think they have tyre sponsors? in which case maybe they'll be on brand new tyres before that happens.
They'll certainly get through a few sets before this thing is done!

I'm halfway through one of Laura M-P's interviews (this one is on The Adventure Podcast, which is almost ALWAYS high quality, if rarely about cycling https://pocketcasts.com/podcast/the...n-tandem/1148a3bb-1d3c-4cca-b32b-6c72f1029655). All about the SteLa tandem record.
She's just mentioned that before they even got out of Europe they had 7 deflations in 24h! Oh how they laughed ...

We had four punctures from one bike in one day on our KAW four day bike packing. Cleared us out of spare tubes which were patched that evening.
Yes, I said they are using Gravelking slicks in 35mm not sure which variety they didn’t say. Panaracer are one their sponsors.

There’s lots to like about Panaracer gravelkings, light and comfy ride and a good light touring tyre by many accounts. My experience of gravel king plus hasn’t been good though, I’ve had three fail as tubeless and had to be repurposed with tubes and one totally written off by a sidewall blowout. I believe Amy did her TdF route on some type of Panaracer and got round without a single issue hence the sponsorship. Maybe it’s the extra weight?

Had that on the rear of my recumbent since Feb. No punctures. Good for winter. It is not a fast rolling tyre. Will be switching to my summer rubber in next few days.

Just seem to be ticking away now. Another 2 countries since I looked yesterday.
A metronomic 20*+change kph moving. That's astonishing discipline to ride that slowly for a pair of their ability [its about the pace I ride a long audax, except in reality I alway start quicker, which isn't a useful strategy], when they're still very fresh.
Bodes well for the attempt. Which is about all I have to say at this stage - we need some drama!!! :P
*This has actually crept up a bit, still below 21! Not surprising now the wind has finally turned around to Westerly-ish.

Mmmmm..... whilst it's certainly been '20+change' for a lot of the time, they've also had a varying degree of headwind for that time. Their last day, with a helpful but not huge tailwind, was nearly 25kph average moving speed.
To me, the interesting aspect is that they are doing repeated very long days, in the 13-14 hour range mostly, but at least once up to 15.5 hours, without apparent issues. Given that they're doing shopping / cleaning / vlogging as well, it's pretty impressive that they are not - again, apparently - suffering much from that as yet. Amy was chased by a Slovakian micro-mutt yesterday: mild drama. Oh, and lifting a 25kg bike over that fallen tree looked less than fun too :-)
