Amy and Kyle's Around the world challenge

Is this attempt registered with Guinness? It looks like their route is chosen to comply with GWR rules, but I don't see the G-word anywhere in Amy's soshuls ...

I am a big fan her you tube channel, I find her videos highly entertaining and so does my wife who is not a cyclist. I have huge admiration for both Amy and Kyle. With regard to the bike, Lael Wilcox rides a Specialized of similar type in her record attempts and yes the record is being verified for the Guiness world record. The answers to all the questions on equipment, route and kit can be found in her recent videos for anyone who wants to find them.
I really don't understand some of the negative connotations in some of the posts. They are doing it their way so therefore it is the correct way for them!

I dont do social media types as do alot of other folks. She pops up on my feeds as I follow some pro cyclists.

I suppose the route works out well. Without doing the you tube, how are they covering the hotel costs etc etc. A summary would be useful for us non-followers.

They have sponsorship from CAMS, Pinarello, Santini, and Rouvy, amongst others.

The route they're using is largely the one designed by Lael Wilcox. It avoids the vast bulk of Asia in favour of North America, for reasons of assorted areas of 'unrest'. That's obviously unfortunate from an aesthetic point of view, but within the Guinness rules. It does mean that nearly half the route involves the risk of being mown down by North Americans or eaten by bears. And another 20% exposes them to Australian drivers :-\ Everyone doing this seems to feel compelled to cycle across Australia though.

I haven't looked at Lael's route; when I saw this pair's route I noted The Asia Gap* and wondered if they were influenced by the SteLa tandem experience. Laura's book (have you read it?) makes the Indian leg clearly the most problematic/traumatic (with Europe being easiest, and America/Aus mainly stress-free IIRC?). I for one would also skip India after reading their book!

Debating the merits of various routes will always be the key discussion point around these rides. Which is good!!!! Otherwise they might as all do a zillion laps of the same closed-road route in an empty bit of Northern Germany.
I guess 2nd will be equipment choice.
3rd maybe budget/sponsorship? Unsupported attempts simplify this slightly (but should we belittle anyone that sleeps under a roof??).

*Of course it's absurd with current geo-political issues to do a significant portion of Asia if you are chasing any sort of target - I have absolutely no problem with that!
