I came across Amy through a random scrolling of Facebook where the algorithm decided I’d like to see her content. At first I thought “just another online content creator looking for views” but took a little time to look closer and found an incredibly inspiring story.

Amy goes by “amy cycling adventures” on the various social media sites. She is a qualified mental health nurse but suffered some mental health issues herself which took her to a dark place. She discovered cycling 4 years ago by way of therapy and went all in on it. She’s been racking up the miles and in 9 days starts her biggest challenge.

Amy is going to cycle every stage of the Tour de France (the men’s TdF), plus the transfers between them. Something like 6,500 km in 30 days, with two planned rest days. She is starting a week before the men do, aiming to finish a day before them. She’s raising funds for a mental health charity called Shout.

I don’t know her. I have no connection to her*. I am just immensely impressed and feel compelled to share her story.

*for total transparency, I did join a virtual group ride led by her on Rouvy and our avatars shared the same piece of road briefly.

I've met Amy at her first audax and she's come on massively since then, despite being a strong rider beforehand. My best wishes to her.

I just wish she'd take her lid off on the coffee stops. Since she's gone full time influencer there is an awful lot of product placement. Lots of energy bar stuff. She is really going to get sick of that stuff doing 200km a day. It's a huge task but she's young, has loads of support and has done the training.

Her and her husband have had some nice free bikes. Good luck.

Be interesting to see how much support crew she has TBH. Her poor husband will be back at work laying bricks all day.

I have noticed alot of other cyclists trying to be a cycling influences. Usual shots of getting dressed (why), cycling stood up with arse shots, tops undone, oh and the usual scripted clipless moment. I see too much rubbish spouted. Just the way the algorithms display these people, especially when you follow some pro riders accounts.

I've been watching her channel for probably around 18 months now, guess the algorithm suggested it.

I watch a fair amount of her videos, she's definitely inspirational, and a very strong cyclist, as is her other half.

She recently went to stay at Escapar in Spain, which randomly was started by a local cyclist to me (That I never met) who went out there a few years ago, must have been before the referendum nonsense.
My parents live there now, all be it further south, so I've cribbed some of her routes, all be it they would be an hour drive from my parents place, but nice to try something new.

Anyway, I have digressed - I think her content is very good, inspirational and sets a good example, even my 11 year old daughter seems to enjoy watching her exploits.
I've partaken in a couple of their Rouvy group rides earlier this year, where they have an instagram live stream going simultaneously where you can ask questions etc.

It's her sole income now, so I fully understand there will HAVE to be a reasonable amount of product placement, she does have to pay the bills after all, so in my opinion, you need to wholly accept that, or simply not watch.
She doesn't strike me as someone who would recommend something they do not use though/approve of, I believe she has proper integrity, and I have heard her state as much in earlier videos.

If you are interested in the mental health side, she has a book out.

200k a day plus transfers plus sleeping/eating/staying clean is a hard ask. I'd have suggested try the womens TdF first or do the transfers by train as much as possible. She isnt Lachlan Morton but she wont know until she tries it.
