Seems odd for the airline to tip booze down her neck for which she can be arrested for drinking.

On t'other hand, one locks horns with customs officials at one's peril, particularly in today's political climate.

Also never under-estimate what a mate of mine once described as the 'clever dentist factor'.

Well-paid individuals, used to getting their way and being treated with respect can be easy prey for officialdom wanting a bit of fun.

Well this may help with your ruminations....

The fact that “detained in Dubai” exists should IMO be more than enough to deter any visitors.

If I went to Dubai, and I pray that I never do, then from the very moment I enter their airspace I would keep my hands to myself, and wouldn't consume so much as a wine gum. It ain't no secret what they're like with their laws, so how eejuts still manage to get caught out defies belief.

Many thousands of passengers enter Dubai every day, a lot will have some alcohol in their system. None of these ever have any problem

She was travelling on an invalid visa. When she was told she couldn't enter Dubai and had to go back to UK it seems to have kicked off

Alcohol in her system was a convenient reason to lock her up when this happened

Apparently the driver in the OP is unemployed, disabled and drives an adapted Corsa in the UK. I wonder if the Lamborghini was adapted for him?

If correct, one would hope an investigator from the DWP might show an interest in the story.
