The French certainly have pies my friend Philip has been running a Pie & Bun Shop called La Fringle = Bonk for the last 20 years they are often 2" deep I'll try and post a pix, he's even prepared to do Cornish Pasties.

So he is exporting pies to the French? That is not the same as the French having pies.

A bakery near the yard I used to work at (in a stop gap job), used to sell this little round lasagne pies! they were awesome, I could do 5 in a sitting, although always suffered afterwards!

They also did beans and sausages topped with mash in a a pastry, still great but not a scratch on the lasagne pie!
