I use three methods of researching:
1. Julian Cope's Modern Antiquarian
2. The Megalithic Portal
3. Google for more detailed research
The former two have downloadable Google Earth overlays, which is an advantage in planning
Can't find my photos, but a few years ago I was at Avebury and was fascinated by the stone circle there. And, apparently, it's older than Stonehenge.

VERY impressive, and just outside Boroughbridge, out Roecliffe Lanethe Devils Arrows are three very impressive monoliths somewhere up near the ripon/harrogate area.
+1Then there's the little known, little stoned and relatively local Casterton Stone Circle....
One of my favourite places, whenever I'm up there, I'll go sit near the packhorse bridge, down at Dob Park, & lose myself in the tranquillity, but imagining the times when the pack-horses were lead across itAcross the river, on the top of Askwith Moor. Stunning views across the Washburn valley
