Can't blame him really.

If he'd got on it, story would be "Policeman Rides Bike IN DEFIANCE OF FORCE RULES! BAN THIS SICK FILTH" (etc)

CSO's dont give the best advertisement for cyclist and simply use the uniform to 'muscle about' the roads

I think the shocker is that Lancashire Police are too tight to buy bikes themselves, so a charity has to do it. And even then, they'll only spring for Halfords' bike-shaped objects.

I wouldn't pose on one of them either.

Seems very daft paying such revererence to cycling proficiency and at the same time saying we're tight and won't buy you any bikes.

Rules are rules and he was just obeying those he'd been given!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I reckon it's a load of rubbish. He was being asked to pose on it. He needn't even have ridden the thing, just posed for a pic.

I bet loads of pics get taken with kids posing in the driving seat of sports cars and so on.

Well a PCSO (Polce Constable Shaped Object) would not get on a BSO (Bike Shaped Oject). Seems strange, thought it would a natural marriage.

Im thinking that he couldnt be associated with the cycle if it involves being trained for insurance purposes, then the outcry would be "What he wasnt insured/trained to use a cycle, whats he doing being pictured with one then?" They cant do right for doing wrong can they?

+1

If he had got on it, smiled for the camera and caught his 'pepper spray' on the saddle as he was getting off, fallen sideways and headbutted a schoolchild there would have been an outcry and then one of his high ranking superiors would have ben sacked for letting such obscene instances occur!
