I painted it red. Because red makes it go faster. It also accidentally gave the model a distinct Warhammer 40k feel, but that’s probably also due to the rotary cannon.
Once I’d worked out what to paint which colour the junk settled down into a generally dieselpunk-esque appearance, which worked out a bit better than expected, as long as you don’t ask awkward questions like “How can the driver see forward?” If this annoys me sufficiently I’ll try and do something about it. Eventually.
Speaking of the driver, I still don’t have an identity for her. Added to the suggestions made here, a quick historical search brought up one Madame Labrouse, who seems to be the first recorded female motor sport competitor. There are others, like Bunny Thornton, who was a racing driver and stunt woman before WW1, and Elisabeth von Papp who was a Hungarian co-driver in the same era.
However, bearing in mind some of my other drivers are named after vegetables, I may be overthinking this. I’m still open to suggestions...
