I'm heading up to Anglesey next weekend (staying Beaumaris), and looking for a couple of 30-40mile rides in the local area, and wondering if there are any "climbs" that are worth heading to. Any tips/routes/places to avoid would be most welcome. It's a family holiday so this is a good chance of some "alone time", and a chance to cycle in a new part of the country!

Thanks

It's all rolling on Anglesey but the copper trail that Smeggers mentions does have at least one dirty big hill.

There are loads of routes on Ride with GPS. Stay away from the main roads through the centre of the island A55 and A5 and the rest is nice. It doesn't take you anywhere, but near Beaumaris there is the little hill to Penmon point with a cafe for a stop. Worth a slight detour.

Potentially the wrong side of the Island for a quick ride out but I'll look into that ta!

We cycled around the island last year and it's very good. Quiet and smooth tarmac.

To the North of Beaumaris and along the coast there are some small climbs that you can put a decent effort in, but as you're very close to the mainland, you can head over the Menai brodge and hit a very decent climb fairly quickly, Nant y Garth on the B4547.
