Ha! Brilliant! I've twice taken out a pigeon on my commute. I'm afraid I hate the things and stubbornly and stupidly try not to break for them... at least I used to. I now do brake for them as one got stuck in the spokes of my front wheel, span up and round and exploded against the front forks. Luckily there isn't seem to be a lot of resistance in a pigeon, so it didn't damage the bike or take me off, it just gave me a big sock, a big wobble, and a lot of time picking feathers out of my bike and kit later.

The second time I actually had to slap one away from my face as I didn't take off too fast.

Having seen that video, I know fear reprisal attacks!

I never experienced this when cycling in Australia, which means I never went close enough to a nesting pair. If there is an angry magpie on your way, you'll know about it.

Birds in first video are awesome. These are the only two or we can have some more like them

Only ever hit two and that was on the m/cycle. One went through the front wheel in an explosion of feathers and the other [a big fat crow] hit me on the chest at about 30mph and hurt like hell, despite the leathers. What it would have felt like if I'd been zipping downhill and hit it at that speed in only cycle gear god knows.
PS Has anyone else noticed there seems to be more crows about these days [or is it just round me and the b-----s are out for revenge] ?

Nope, not crows but I was sitting at a beach side cafe and a couple had just vacated their table. They had a plate left on the table with some cake crumbs on it and within seconds about twenty finch's swooped out of the bushes and onto it. The table and surrounding floor was covered in these tiny little finch's.
Never seen that number of birds in my life!
