The amount of Christmas food goodies sold with best before dates well before 25th December never ceases to amaze/dismay. No wonder we have an obesity problem when much of the population is stuffing their faces with Christmas cheer from early November on.

That feels like a significant shift given the timeframe.

Indeed. It's taken more than a thousand years for the blue line to fall 30% from 100% (ish) to 70%. Then it's fallen another 30% in the past 35 years. I guess the interesting question is how low does the blue line have to go before the social and cultural norms based on a Christian society no longer hold water? When do we decide to ditch Easter Bank Holidays and replace them with holidays at a better time of the year?
