Another 'British' sponsor?

Anyone have any idea what Skys annual investment in the pro team is?

I'm not sure, but I'm sure it's very small compared to the Europe wide advertising expenditure. It always surprises me that people think Sky is UK only as they've done a good job spreading across Europe.

And it's £30m over 4 years: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/feb/26/cycling-tour-de-france-mark-cavendish in addition to the original £1m to Sky Track Cycling.

Newscorp businesses with Sky branding

Off the top of my head, around 12 million euros
Edit, not quite, it's a bit more than that : http://inrng.com/2012/08/team-sky-budget-accounts/
17 million sterling ish

It says there "Title sponsor revenue: 10,529 £'000"

Ah yes, that would be Sky's actual sponsorship part as opposed to what i erroneously claimed !

It is interesting this is some 2.5 milllion above what their actual contributions should have been. Let me see if I can find Sky's marketing expenditure in their annual report.

I remember watching Branson being interviewed on US TV at the start of one of his balloon record attempts. The reporter asked him if he wasn't embarrassed about spending shareholders money on personal pursuits. His response was to ask how long they'd been on air with the attempt that morning to which he got the answer about 20 minutes. "So how much would you charge me to buy 20 minutes of prime time advertising?" Rapid change of topic by reporter.

This is a depressing thread.
Why?
Because of the sums involved?

Would it make you feel better to know that just one shampoo brand, Sunsilk, spend about 80mil a year on marketing? lol
