Hi Wise Forum People...
I limped home on the small chainring yesterday after my front derailleur cable snapped in the shifter. This is the third time I've had this mode of failure (twice before on the rear shifter). I'm running Tiagra 9 speed with Nokon enclosed stainless steel cables. These are about 15 months (7000miles) old and I've had the cable go before with standard Shimano cable as well. The cable just seems to have frayed about an inch from the end.
I'm wondering if anyone has any similar experience and any suggestions for avoiding this? Am I just expecting them to last too long, and I should get in the habit of checking them (though it's a bit of a bind to do so!)?
Cheers, Matt
