" the noise is pretty random. literally whenever i go over a bump"

Not sure if it's already been suggested but could it be the chain bouncing and tapping on something?

I did consider that , however it happens going super slowly aswell so I reckon I could rule that out... I'm thinking of filming it and uploading it on here

update: goodish news

took it down to my LBS yet again and this time they fully took apart the headset and laid it all out
they now think its a faulty fork/headset area and say that they have had problems with giant defys before around this area

so i have used the bikes warranty to get a new fork off giant.. best part. its all free

so any giant users out there with a undiagnosable creaking head set area,, get a new one on warranty

Having the same sort of issue myself. Noticed it on my last ride whenever I was putting some significant pressure on the pedals. I have since noticed that if I turn the bars from side to side I can hear the clicking noise more predominantly!
I took apart the headset and dropped out the forks, cleaned everything and re-greased........still the same !!!
I have done some reading and it seems like the headset bearings are very common to need replacing on the defys. ( I have a defy 4). Some within 12 months.
Let me know if you get to the bottom of you clicking noise as I'd be interested to find out.
hi you said to let you know if i sorted it out, if you read my post above you will find the answer

all the best with yours

hi all,

first of all, sorry for another mysterious clicking noise thread.

secondly , i have seen sheldon browns website about clicking noises but I still cannot diagnose mine.

I have taken it to my local bike store and they have ridden it, tighten thigns time after time but no matte rwhat it still occurs.

Giant Defy 5 by the way

Personally i ave limited bicycle know-how on mechanical issues so need your help.

So far i have undone, regreased and rescrewed the handle bar cap to hold the bars in place.

The click does seem to be coming from the headtube/head set region, but due to revurberation it could easily be coming from the crankset. It seems to be louder if i go faster

nothing seems to wobble/feel lose.
I have done a once round on the bike adn tightened any bolts that feel loose.
About the click, it only really occurs when the bike is under some strain e.g. going up hill, over a bump in the road or down hill fast over slight bumps. Its not related to the turning of the bars as it happens if i hit a bump dead on.

I feel that if i dont get it sorted soom, i may try and get something back on warranty.

when stationary and i twist the handlebars should you hear a slight creaking noise ? or should it be silent? as mine makes a noise

last thing,, one bolt i did find that was quite loose, i didnt know what it was, it is the bolt that if you turn your bike upside down it is directly underneath in the niddle of the bike, underside of the bottom bracket? what is this?

thanks for any help
I had a click on two occasions. 1 was a loose spoke in the front wheel.
2 Was the saddle cradle/seat pin ,both appeared tight.Sprayed both with WD40 problem solved.
