Got my clipless pedals this week. And after 1 commute I have had my first moment. Everything was going fine, until I pull behind a truck who pulls out whilst the driver is on the phone. So that has already agitated me. He then stops, and I forget my feet are clipped to the pedals ;). Next thing I know I'm falling in slow motion - on a busy road full of traffic and pedestrians everywhere. Quite embarassing.
Heard someone shout 'are you okay' as I cycle off, so I praise that man - sorry I didn't stop, was too embarassed at that point. Luckily no damage done, and I have a very cautious 8 miles on the way back.
And then to be told 'keep those legs going' by a girl no more than 8 years old, whilst finishing a small hill climb. Not my day eh.....

I have a rather nasty collection of bruises from my clipless moment at the weekend. Track standing behind a cab but it was a slight downhill slope and I'm as yet not very good at track standing. I grabbed too much brake, realised and unclipped my left foot but in so doing unbalanced and fell right still clipped in. I died of embarrassment and got a telling off from the boyfriend for track standing rather than unclipping. Huge black bruises aside, I love clipless.

Yep, absolute classic, just when you think you've get it cracked, something happens that makes you stop unexpectedly and you forget to clip out...

Happens to us all

I did that at a bus stop at Stratford and also in Leyton when I first got these clipless things....That slow motion thing is great isn't it?

Haven't done it recently till tommorow.

I *know* this will jynx it, but I have been riding clipless for 2 months without any moments so far. I am now pretty certain I will have one tomorrow

My first clipless moment was on my driveway (after a ride). I forgot to unclip and did the slo-mo into the hedge. I was wedged in too far away from the ground to lever myself up with my arm and the hedge was not sturdy enough to use.
My neighbour from over the road happened to be out and saw me struggling, came over and had to unlace my shoe to allow me to get out of the pedal.

;)

If you are going to embarrass yourself, you might as well go all the way and give someone a decent story to tell down the pub, "I remember, when our neighbour fell into the hedge...".
