Today I achieved something that this time last year would have probably been dangerous to my health.
Having smashed the target of 50k before the end of September back in April and going out on a number of group rides over the past month, it was brought up in conversation about a local charity ride happening and would I be up for it.
So the choices were 20 miles or 50 miles my initial thought was to stick with the 20 but where's the fun in that I have pushed myself over the last few months and am seeing and feeling the benefits (maybe the bank account would argue to differ)
So the decision was to do my first charity ride and in doing so push my milage past anything I had done in one stint (35 being my biggest to date).
Now I would never have been able to do the 50 today without the help of a fellow member @Lee gg who sacrificed his ride to tag along with me.
So today I have not only completed my first charity event but also pushed my milage way past what I thought I was capable off, oh and got my first medal for over 20 years.
Legs are a little achy but my backside is fine and in all honesty I truly think that I could easily do another 50 or maybe even 60 event soon. Especially considering early in the week I felt rubbish and rundown with what felt like a virus.
From fat unfit blokes come slimline milage munchers.
