Doesn't look like an actual con to me. The seller's been pretty open about people telling him (or her) it's not an S-Works. Not that I would know, I wouldn't know a Specialized S-Works if I found one in my cereal box.

Most MTBs look like that to me. Although I admit that the Tourney rear mech is a bit of a giveaway to those in the know.

the forks, the welding, the shape of the frame, the shock, the marin-imitation swingarm, the head tube angle - it all just looks wrong, and soooo halfords!

How quick does it go, Bonj?

This doesn't look like any Hardrock I've ever seen, unless the stored a 'number of years' is a lot and a very early mtb I've not seen before.
And who would ride it off-road with a horizontal TT ? Makes my eyes water just thinking about it.

i'd say mid 90's

my first proper mountain bike had a horizontal top tube, was a muddy fox - used to ride it with the seat right the way up too

Yep, definitely a legit Hardrock. A guy down the stairs from my flat had one in the early to mid 90's.

In fact, with some slicks and maybe converted to singlespeed that would make a cracking commuting/pub bike.

I saw one of those Hardrocks in sale in Dales Cycles a few years ago. It was mint, obviously had never been used. Sold for £120. I thought that was a bit much as I bought my wife a GT bike, which was much better spec, in the same sale for £100. I think people put too much on the name sometimes.

So is it the real deal or a fake?

You are joking?
The s-work models are Specialized premium race range. Think high end. Well over £2k+ new

Thats some bag of crap with fake stickers stuck to it.
probably worth about £200 new,#

I think the hardrock is the real deal. And if it's all orignal then it will be worth quite a bit of money to the right person.
