@Origamist - and fords. DAMHIKT

I've always been wary of Fords, but fords are less of a hazard in Cheshire. Noted though.

Having looked at the moss again it's such a small amount I think it's quite hard to spot. I doubt the council will take any action based on my previous experience.
If it's a route you take often, why not clean the moss yourself?
Probably 5 min with a scraper will do.

I agree the OP could do with improving his bike control, but as someone whose control is nothing special, improving is not easy.

A change of tyres may help.

I am more confident on my new Marathon Pluses than I was on the old Marathon Supremes, which were a bit iffy on anything other than dry asphalt.

Original equipment Kendas - fitted to the OP's bike - are, in my experience, not very good.

Knobblies of any make don't sound ideal for the OP's commute.

My suggestion would be to get some shallow tread tyres, I like Schwalbe, but I'm sure other makes are just as good.

Also, changing tyres after a series of misfortunes may give the OP the feeling of a fresh start.

Thank you. Yes I like the idea of a fresh start. The other thing I noted as I checked my (fairly new) bike over was the headset was loose - I wondered if this could have contributed to a loss of control over the front wheel?

Thought about that - it's such a thin covering I thought it would need pressure washing (or bleaching)
Wallpaper scraper, kitchen scourer, bottle of bleach will probably do it.
