Hi everyone. I'm pondering upgrading my wheels from the (apprently DT) Axis 3.0 wheels on my Specialized Roubaix Comp. I have heard lots of good things about Mavic wheels so have decided if I was to upgrade they would be a good option.

I have the choice between:

Aksium S: http://www.merlincycles.com/mavic-aksium-s-wts-wheels-pair-2014-inc-tyres-58831.html

Ksyrium Equipe S: http://www.merlincycles.com/mavic-ksyrium-equipe-s-wts-wheelset-2013-58926.html

Cosmic Elite S: http://www.merlincycles.com/mavic-cosmic-elite-s-wts-wheels-pair-61397.html

I would like a good set of all-round wheels that will be reliable for the next few years. How much of a performance difference would there be between the different wheelsets and is it worth paying more for the Ksyriums and Cosmics over the Aksiums?

I have the Aksium and Ksyrium Equipes and there isn't much in it other than they are lighter. If you can get the next Ksyrium up over the Cosmics if you want all round performance. Cosmics are heavier, so you'll notice the most difference with the Ksyrium models.

They are all good bomb proof wheels.

Cosmic are sweet, got a set on now roll well love the glide, not that heavy. Got then without the tyres and run Conti GP4000s and seem a sweet combo. For the price they are very good, true just make sure you use spacers as needed when popping cassette on.

The only down side is they do catch the wind, I've got Shimano RS30's as well and they never seem to catch like that can take you unawares but it's all good fun
