One of the worst things about HMV shops was that they stank. The threadbare grey carpet patched with gaffer tape can't have helped.

Can't say that I'll miss them.

Now I wouldn't miss them, but there's a whiff of nostalgia about memories of wandering the aisle discussing which one to choose on a rainy afternoon. Like there is about so much that is vanishing so amazingly fast.

Why, I can even remember using roads that did not have potholes in 'em. Or was it all just a dream?

I remember when Blockbuster first arrived near our place in London. It quickly put the local independent video rental shop out of business. My late brother went in there and bought up most of the stock as the shop closed down. I still have crates of 80's video films yet to watch!
