Dr Units* says.....I'm kinda shocked at the mpg this and even the Prius cars achieve. 42 mpg ? (More for the Prius obviously but not astoundingly more) ...i always thought (obviously wrongly) that hybrid cars were very fuel efficient. My 1.5 tonne basic Astra can achieve 48 mpg on a regular basis.
I'm not side swiping them, I'm sure there are advantages (VED of course)...but I was seriously thinking my next car would be a hybrid for fuel efficiency...meh, maybe not.
I'd gladly be enlightened.
The MPG isn't as bad as it sounds because that's a US site, so the MPG will be quoted in US Gallons, which are just 0.8333 of an imperial gallon. 'Translated' into UK MPG, the consumptions are closer to 50mpg and 60mpg respectively. That's before you take into account the different protocols for determining a representative fuel consumption.
*In my old job I was the Unit of Measurement National Socialist. Woe betide anyone who mixed up their MegaWatts and MegaWatt Hours. Grrrrrr!!!!!!
