becasue it sounds like 'snot', of course .

If you were the mayor of a town called "Sickingham" would you change the name?

So? Whats wrong with it sounding like snot?

I dont usually get abuse - Mr white minivan just seems to like playing 'lets see how close i can get' sort of games at 6.45 in the morning. Either that or he is still drunk from the night before

Just gob on the van next time you see him coming.
Remember, if you kick his van, he could possibly pull over and get out.
When this happens, have your escape route and go:laugh:
Where in Nottingham do you live? I cant remember seeing any women on Giant SCR3s:wacko:

Woops, its says crs3:blush:
If you see a young person(17/18) on a blue fixed wheel in Sherwood CC kit(yellow green and black) riding like a tit, then give me a shout:becool:

The side with Arnold. Carlton and Gedling in  (Dont know who may be lurking out there reading this!!)

Which area are you?

I wouldnt kick the van whilst he was in it

I live in Carlton, not far from the Punch Bowl and the Post office that recently had 2 people go in with a gun.
You may see me, or might have seen me about then.

:laugh: Bonj has a point though. To all you people out there who have to shout, swear, kick and punch cars - do what Jesus did and turn the other cheek.

Boring!

I do mainly keep quiet though and dont say anything, but i was a tad annoyed that day by something.

I learnt that shouting, swearing and doing other stuff was just pointless.

Exactly - take the moral high ground my fellow cyclists.

Lee, do you ever actually work? You always seem to be on here:wacko:

I have to say I find the idea of spitting at someone or there property disgusting.
I know I have said I would hit a car, which some find equally outrageous but I find spitting totally unacceptable.

I wouldnt do any damage etc to anyone or their property but it makes me feel better to think I would  Apart from the driver of the BMW who knocked me off a while ago and killed my bike

His car got a kick (with the leg that wasnt bleeding) and I could quite easily have punched his lights out (but he was a he and bigger than me )

I spit every so often. Not at people/cars though, just into the road at what I consider a minimal overtaking distance (legitimate spit - get rid of phlem or that bug that just flown into my open mouth)...

should anyone be trying to squeeze past at the same time they can be rewarded.:biggrin:

Completely unrelated, but we used to threw polos into soft top cars on my school bus, as the bus driver wouldn't notice - he tended to notice rotten apples and things

Sometimes I find a non agressive gesture better, shoulder shrugging or shaking your head as in "what was that for" can work wonders, i.e. you arent antagonising them by calling them a w4nker or whatever the traditional gestures mean but getting your point across, personally I would find it more humbling to get such a gesture than an agressive one, that said, some pond life will just use any response as their cue to knock you off or throw a half drunk can of Coke at you.

I was waiting to turn right into my work today, as the traffic slowed to stop and wueue at the lights it was clear that the last car would block my turn unless he stopped a few feet short, he didn't, I pointed that out to him fairly mildly

My policy is to totally ignore them. I've never had any really aggressive stuff and very rarely get any verbal abuse but when I do I think it's usually something like "cycle path" - I can never hear what they are shouting at me properly.

I've only ever really yelled once, and that's when some dim wit pulled out and nearly side swiped me. They totally ignored me.
