I had a Tiscali broadband service for 10 years with no problems at all, good speed and conectivity and superb customer service on the couple of occasions I used it.

When talk talk/ carphone warehouse took over it carried on as before.

However - over the past couple of weeks the service has been dreadful, and it appears not to be just me.

I keep being forced disconnected, connectivity is poor, actual data rate is very low, and the customer service people seem to have vanished!

Has anyone else had similar issues?

If the situation continues I'll be changing ISP.

I have been very pleased with Plusnet.

Interesting that you were happy with Tiscali.... as I remember, Tiscali was the ISP to avoid at any cost. This information goes back a few years now. You should find plenty of information on http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.shtml

What you will find is that most ISP are brilliant while they are building their customer base, after that it's nearly always the case of too many customers for the hardware they use OR the ISP is taken over by a large ISP in which case the same problem occurs, too many customers.....

anyone got any first hand experience of Be? I've heard good things, but never used them. Looking at their budget plan for my Mum...otherwise it's possibly plus net as they seem to both offer affordable, low usage plans.

They are fine. DO NOT go with plusnet unless she really is low usage.

Well, I pay PlusNet £5.99 a month for 10GB. Is that low usage? It seems a huge amount to me, but then I don't use it for gaming or downloading music and YouTube clips.

Neither do I or did I when I had them. The traffic management was absolutely crippling though. Shame because they went from being one of the best ISPs to one of the worst.

Be are not as good as they used to be a couple of years ago.

I'm still with them but will be moving on shortly

There's a lot of places that are probably a bit overcontented. It's probably going to become more of a problem if you're not one of the lucky girls and boys to be BT's FTTx stage 4,5

Not a Tiscali person but having real problems with our Talk Talk internet connection - keeps dropping the internet and coming back again. Mr Summerdays thinks it may be an internal to our house problem so is going to look at everything this weekend.
