Last week I marked an assessment as part of an internal training course where I asked people to solve equations - most of them had no problems at all.

Quick now - is 70/3 smaller or larger than 91/4?

I find that I deal with things like comparing 2 5/8 of 927 & 4 2/16 of 493. It's much quicker to deal with 21/8ths of 927 & 66/16ths of 493 as I have no intermediary calculations to deal with.
