Help.......

Got a BT Youview+ box that stopped recording last Monday. Hard drive is only half full so not that.
It displays 'Youview cannot record this'

Did a software update and a system update. No go..... rang BT who told me to do a system update again. still no. They are sending an engineer next Friday.

Signal quality says 100 % but signal strength is 67% I can watch, pause rewind anything but not record.

I don't think its the signal strength as I cant record the extra internet channels either. But we had our roof felt changed last weekend for a new plastic type rather than felt and wondered if this has affected anything? Roofer could have disturbed the indoor aerial when he took the tiles off.....

Any ideas..... I don't want the engineer to come say its our aerlal and charge me an obscene amount of cash

Well if you can pause and rewind then it is recording.

It would seem more like a software issue.

Sounds obvious, but have you done a full power down - unplugged it from the wall and left it off for 10 mins before plugging back in and letting it reboot from scratch?
I don't have a BT Youview+ box, but this was sometimes the only way to get my old Sky box to work if it locked up.

If you can watch TV it seems unlikely that the fault is your aerial.

Thanks for replies so far... The pausing rewind thing was puzzling me as well...

Not left for 10 mins but 30 secs off at mains then reboot with factory reset.

Might try the 10 minutes... Got nowt to lose

Just leave it off all night, wont do any harm.
My Youview box gets a bit funny every now and again.

It seems unlikely but I'm guessing the box has enough free tuners to record your programme, also check it's not preventing a recording because of a scheduled recording clash.

Yep 3 times.... But thanks for looking for a solution for me. Your time is genuinely appreciated

I reckon I'll just wait for the engineer to come Friday...... I'm off work this week so Its mildly irritating but taking into account what's happening elsewhere in the world... It is just that.....irritating

Oh well - good luck!

I mentioned in another thread today that I'd had a problem with my Freesat box and a couple of times that was due to my remote control 'crashing' rather than the box! That took a bit of finding ...
