Just found this, a Honda Shadow 250. Worth a punt? Only £600.

You may wish to consider looking at single cylinder bikes as they are generally lighter than multi cylinder. The Honda Cb250rs (1979-83) is a brilliant lightweight bike at circa 136kg. I don’t know if they are available in your part of the world. A good Japanese cg125 is also a wonderful bike.
Pictured is my old Cb250rs, now replaced with an unrestored model in blue.
Also, my BMW g310gs single.

Thanks for that @Kevberlin I'm aware small singles are good but I've just got a thing for V twins, maybe because I had a Ducati a long time ago

For a lightweight v twin have a look at the Suzuki SV650. Not one of my bigger bikes, but probably the one I most regretted selling.

Little Ducati 600 or 620 Monster would be a good choice. Nice gentle bike.

I went into my local motorbike shop , here in Denmark about a month ago. I was looking for some kevlar jeans. I did not see any. But when I turned around. There was a sparkling blue Honda Super Cub, right in front of me.
It was about 10 metres away and I looked at the lady behind the counter and said "I will have that".
I walked over to it and read the label. It is from 2019 but looked as though it has never left the show room.
I started riding motorbikes when I was 14 years of age. I had a Honda 50, then a Honda 70, and then a Honda 90. I then moved onto big bikes
I did not know they sold the Honda Super cub in Denmark. I cannot find another one and in the past month, I have found only one Super Cub owner in Denmark.
The motorbike actually belonged to the owner of the bike shop and had just over 1000km on it. He bought it new.
The woman behind the counter was the owners wife and she was even more confused when I took my credit card out and told her I wanted to pay for it. No haggling, no test ride. Just sell it to me before someone else buys it.
I have now ridden 500km on the Super Cub. I have added a screen, side stand, pannier racks and panniers. I just need to add a power outlet and then it is ready for some small adventures.
What a great little bike it is. It will sit for hours at 60kph and has a top speed of about 90kph. I will be using it on quiet cycling roads and so 60kph is plenty fast enough.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is a cheap lightweight bike, it’s 411 cc whilst fairly puny carries both me and my wife, a combined 160 kgs. I wouldn't take on the motorway but many do.
The Ducati is for big tours, the RT is my winter bike and the Yamaha needs selling but I wanted one in 1981 but couldn’t afford it until 2020.

The last new bike I bought was in 1971, just about nine months after they went out of production - a 750cc Royal Enfield Interceptor Series 2 - which I still own. It's a USA specification model which got damaged when being loaded onto a ship heading to the States. I only ride it in summer and it will come out of storage next weekend for servicing ready for a summer of fun
