I should have said that I'm not interested in electric bikes (Raleigh) and, unfortunately, I very much doubt I could afford a custom-build based on the Rohloff hub gear (Shand & Thorn). The Pashley Morgan 8 looks interesting though.

I haven't actually set a budget yet as I just wanted to see what my options are first but, thinking about it, I wouldn't spend much over a grand. There were certainly more mainstream internal hub geared bikes available when I last looked (several years ago). Shame.

Anything out there with Shimano Nexus/Alfine 8 or 11 speed gears?

If it’s a flat bar road bike you are looking for then this Boardman with 8 speed Nexus hub gears for £750 looks interesting. They also have some cheaper models with 3 speed Nexus.

There's an 'ex display' Pashley 'Kingsman' on the bay for just short of a grand
