John the Canuck

..a long way from somewhere called Home..
treated myself to a ''Black Bottle'' yesterday
having a wee dram [or 2] that evening - i thought ''i need a cigar or my old pipe with this''

today searched through some old storage cases and - s'enuf - found one of my old pipes
from Canada some 30 years ago - me, a hoarder..?....^_^

anyway - to start again - what's a good mild tobacco available in the UK ...?

Mellow Virginia from Benson & Hedges used to be OK.
It's a few years now since I gave up*, so this suggestion may be out of date.

*Looking at the current prices, I'm glad I did

Not exactly handy from where you are, but there is a proper old school tobacconists in our town called ARTHUR MORRIS.

I can't even find a website for it so I can't imagine they have any internet presence for sales, although I guess there must be rules for that anyway.

I used to love going in there when I was a slave to the weed. They have a wall full of old wooden drawers with loose tobacco in them, and the smell of the fresh tobacco mixed with the years and years of use, (established in 1903!), made for an amazing and intoxicating aroma.

I never smoked a pipe though TBH, and just used to go in from time to time to treat myself to pack of Lucky Strikes

You could have a look at Brucciani of Carlisle, they seem to have a fairly extensive range,or Gawiths of Kendal. There is of course always Dunhill !

John, this is probably of no use at all,but they also sell snuff from Sharrow Vale I think, though I have to say that the only people I see sneezing on a regular basis in Carlisle are coming out of apub where the quality of the beer isnt really the main attraction.Happy to have been a help
