My Sons 2nd Marathon ever at Manchester today - having only been running for 15 (?) months. And his first on Tarmac - the only other one being on ‘trails’ and which he did in 3.08. *Today finishing in 2 hours 53 mins and 585th of 42’000 runners

He’s been struggling with injury / training. And it showed in the last 5-7k today.

None of that stops me being a super proud parent ! Amsterdam next after a full training block we hope…..

What an effort! He would have run past me - I was marshalling on the course. Respect for anyone who can run that distance, especially the elite runners who I'd probably be the same pace as... if I was on a bike!!

Ha 🤣

Thanks for your time and effort on Sunday.

I know my Son enjoyed. And I thought it ran (sic) really slick ! Great atmosphere…🙏❤️

Thankyou. He’d really appreciate your kind thoughts. He relishes all support I promise !

Despite only giving himself a ‘B’ rating for his performance (2.42) was the dream goal pre-injury: he really enjoyed it !

Having not got in at London; and ‘settling’ for Manchester - he’s just done the most obvious thing and tonight signed up for Brighton 2027 - the UK’s third biggest.

However - Amsterdam first in Oct. A really flat / fast course. And if he can get a full training block in this time around there’s gains a plenty to be had on paper…….

Excellent. Tell him to enjoy it as time seems to slip by far too quickly. I wish I had put more effort into running when I was younger.

Is that the Coros heart rate monitor on his arm? Does he use a Coros watch too? I sometimes get a bit fed up of Garmin and fancy a change.

About all you can expect back from a Son getting asked technical questions by ‘An ancient Parent’ 🙄

Not sure if I'd ever describe myself as a runner but I am currently working my way through the couch to 5k programme.

Managed to get to week 6 which is by far the furthest I've ever managed!

Aim is to start doing the parkruns in the next few weeks.

Our town has only just started one. The first one was last Saturday. I have registered and got a barcode in case I pluck up the courage to give it a go.

That's great Mo

I registered years ago and actually did one last year up in Keswick.
Walked most of it as it was just to get a taste of it and my knee was not good.
Really enjoyed the occasion and the encouragement from the runners there, and am looking forward to doing more.
