They sent this..reckon its true..?

That's more than I paid for my entire AAT level 2 course which included a module on Sage. Have you tried your local FE college?

This course would be perfect if all you require is to do data entry for a living, it won’t give you the tools you need to become a self employed bookkeeper, nor would it give you a bookkeeping qualification also the sage 50 would only add to your CV it’s not a working qualification where you will be qualified to actually do a job

Thank you

this is the learning colleges reply to me when i asked them about the course direct with sage

I don't know what you want from the course but the college is semi-right.

Most employers use people to input data into the sales or purchase ledger (items sold and bought) - they don't know how the whole system works but are trained to accurately record and check the input. Basically they are given a pile of paper invoices and have to enter all the details onto the computer using the Sage software. It's mindblowingly dull.

This is what the Sage course will be teaching you.

On the other hand Companies also employ/use bookeepers to do all their books. This includes maintaining Sales and Purchase ledgers and reconciling them to the bank etc etc. This is a far more skilled operation and the College will be giving you a proper grounding hopefully.

My main concern is whether a home learning course would work - I think you need day-to-day exposure to really get too grips with things. Personally I wouldn't employ a self-trained bookkeeper and no-one in their right mind would either.

I'd also mention - there are a lot of people looking for work who have already got the bookkeeping experience but can't find jobs.
