I didn't know Ukulele was a Polynesian word until this morning and if pronounced as they do the two u's should have the same sound.

It translates as 'jumping flea'.

It can be a funny life. The only song/Line I know is "When I'm leaning on a lampost at the corner of the street" That's it, nothing else. But I've just read the thread from racing about cyclists stopping for a leak and now have this vision of EBH leaning on a lampost for a wee stop!!!

A school was recently censored by ofsted inspectors for having a ukulele band as part of their music lessons on the grounds that it wasn't "proper" music. The kids were devastated... back to the recorder thenxx(

That seems very shortsighted. Who cares if it's "proper" music or not? (And it is.) Surely the important thing is that the kids enjoy it.
