Any warm places worth going to for touring?

Hey guys,

I'm new and am thinking about beginning touring. However I would like to do it somewhere abroad. Somewhere warm, but not too expensive and any suggestions on places to stay while there would be appreciated as well. Thanks guys.

When you say warm, be careful, as warm nights often mean roasting days. Spain (most parts) from Feb to May and Sept to Oct poss Nov is a good choice. Hotels are cheap and campsites few and far between. As MarkF said, use what they call a "Hostal" which is a pension/B&B and very good value. On this trip http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/julian2012 I camped in France (about €10 per night) and hotel/hostal in Spain (about €30 per night). Southern Spain in Oct was lovely - north a lot colder

Pretty much anywhere in France is worth a look. Avoid south coast in July and August. Corsica is a STUNNING place to cycle

Thanks Spain it will be I think. Best brush up on my Spanish, and have a little look at the flights and begin to plan my holiday. Any good old Islands? or should I stick to the mainland?

Re helmets in Spain, they are legally required.

Mallorca is lovely but small for anything more than a short tour. I would look at the Easyjet route map and plan a place to place route. Or fly somehwere and ferry back from North coast

I like Mallorca, stay in this great little place in a village in the center of the island, called Sineu. Great place because if I didn't think that I could cycle back I hop on a train and cycle back. I rent my bike too.

we toured through Sweden a few years back - it went above +30C most days and that was a very long way north (above the 69th parallel) with that in mind, you could go anywhere, just make sure they have plenty of drinking water easily available, something thankfully Sweden is not short of

Aegean region of Turkey, in spring or autumn; plenty of cheap pensions (£15 per night B&B), cheap restaurants, quiet roads, plenty of warm sunshine, and in spring wonderful wild flowers; or in autumn, after your day on a the bike, you can relax in the sparkling blue, warm (25C) sea.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'll have little look at tickets and bike rentals or taking my own, and all other little factors before choosing. I'll let you know where I choose.
