Anybody else actually prefer this weather in some ways?

For cycling, I much prefer this weather. I work on the basis that it's easy to add layers when you are cold, but there's only so much you can remove in the heat.

However, circumstances had me on the powered two wheeler today, and riding that on the slimy greasy uneven tarmac of Burnham Beeches was as scary as duck!

I'll be back cycling later, though, and I'm looking forwards to it.

As for riding in the dark, I love that but only with decent lights, one on the bars, the other on my head. One shows where I'm going. the other where the bike is going. The two are not always the same.

I can only remember a couple of occasions this summer when I was too hot!
I like cycling in the sunshine and daylight, looking at the flowers and the scantily clad girls.

Autumn suits me perfectly... my fave season, really. But I love cycling in summer, the "just shirts and shorts" idea mentioned before... takes far less time to get out!

Writing this post reminded me that I needed to get some replacement neoprene overshoes to replace the ones I ripped last winter. That led to an hour of browsing shops and spending just over 60 quid on various bits and bobs!

The rain's played havoc with a lot of rural roads and cycle paths hereabouts. I cycled from west Norfolk to Holt and then on to Norwich yesterday, the last 14 miles along Marriotts Way (route of an old railway line) was awful - really awful- the lanes were muddy as hell and Marriotts Way was a miserable swampy slog, I've brought half of it home on the bike! (I'd expect all this by about December but it's a bit grim this early). And it pissed down all the way after a weather forecast of a completely dry day.

 i love Autumn. It's my fave cycling month. Clear air in the morning, cycling past the airport as planes fly like ghost planes out of the early morning mist and then, on the way home, beautiful swirly red yellow orange sunsets, far off city lights coming on which look like a sprinkling of glitter, bonfires and BBQ smells, brown, red, russet leaves on the trees. truly spectacular time of year. October is MY month

actually i was driving past said airport down the M42 the other day and suddenly a plane just appeared out of nowhere hanging in the sky. It was really weird. the sky was completely grey and i didn't realise how low the cloud was until this plane just suddenly appeared in front of me. took me a bit by surprise.

I hate the wind in my face, but don't mind rain or cold at all. That is just a clothing issue that can get sorted out with yet more money to the bike stores. The only thing that really pisses me off is wet feet, because I wear trainers. Any suggestions on how to fix that problem?

Thanks.

Neoprene overshoes. I use Endura ones. Designed to go with cleated cycle shoes, but can't see any reason why they wouldn't be ok with trainers.
