Anybody here shave their head?

I haven't cut my hair since 1988, I last had it cut for a job interview and thought it was 'receding' a bit so thought I'd grow it long one last time. It hasn't receded since and now just stays at it's natural length.

I used to use a Whal. Mine was mains powered, is that still the case?

See the link in my post just up a bit. The Wahl clippers I mention there are rechargeable so can be used in the bathroom and rinsed under the tap. (You can use them mains powered too if the battery's dead.)

I used to use a Whal. Mine was mains powered, is that still the case? That is one of the reasons I prefer the circular Babyliss thing. Mains meant that it wasn't very convenient to do the clipping in the bathroom which was, and is, the best place. Or did it have one of those two pronged shaver plug things? I can't remember

Your hair doesn't grow? It has 'a natural length'? Weird. I've never heard of such a thing.

The length it is at is where the hair 'breaks off', it hasn't got any longer in the past 25yrs (hasn't become any shorter either)

I'll try to find the last photo taken of me to illustrate.

So, it grows but it breaks off when it gets to a certain length? Weirder & weirder...

That, I think, is the weakness of the Whal. Great for barbers, they have mains power and they can see what they're doing. I found that doing it myself with the Whal I would keep missing bits and I couldn't do it over the sink which was the most convenient place for the clippings

With the Babyliss I can do it myself and rarely seem to miss patches. And with it being battery powered I can use it over the sink easily so it makes the whole process less of a faff for me

As for who the girl is I have absolutely no idea, I also had no idea that my old friend Ian had taken the photo but I can tell it was taken on the Saturday evening by which time I'd been drinking pretty much non-stop since arriving at 8.00 AM Thursday morning (I'd had a couple of 'naps' back at the tent)

Quick update for you, my son bought the babyliss machine and tried them out last night. He put a bald stripe across the back of his head So, they've been returned and we're going to stick with the normal clippers

I've always used the traditional Remington and Wahl clippers which always seem to give up the ghost after a couple of years but recently got these Philips rechargeable ones which seem much sharper and cut better.
