Anybody know anything about annoying low-frequency environmental noise?

Can't remember where, but I read somewhere about very low frequency sound being generated by breezes blowing through buildings in certain ways. It's one hypothesis to explain why people feel cold and their hair stands on end in "haunted" buildings.

Oh hang on, that was from reading about infrasound on wikipedia (I think I got there from reading about acoustic weapons being deployed to ward off Somali pirates), so probably not relevant.

However, if your mum is starting to suffer from age-related hearing loss, the higher frequencies usually go first, so the lower frequencies would appear louder than to younger people, perhaps explaining why the EHO couldn't discern a low frequency noise.
