Anyone been to Lanzarote?

I quite liked this place. We stayed in Costa Teguise also known as Costa Too Breezy.

it was my first holiday with my OH, and also my first without my parents. We went on a "blanket tour" of the volcanoes for free. I wouldn't recommend it, I thought it was just a freebie, not that I would be sat listening to a sales guy sell blankets for 2 hours  Oh, how much I have learned since then

YES!!!!!!

Awesome place and I did manage to hire a bike!!!

1) Head to Yaiza >> Teguise, historic old town, if you can, lovely market on a specifc day of the week (will try and ascertain which)

Costa Teguise for us as a family. more than a few years back.Apartment on a private letting. One family did cause trouble boozing late in to the night.Broken glass.Lucky for us at the other end of the blocks, more than one pool also. Two sets of adults thrown out for being over loud.
The place itself is family friendly,we found a lovely beach.Great food in restaurants.A bit breezy like Accy said. It's at least ten years ago.We enjoyed our two weeks.

I was right about that saddle
Interesting, I always thought Lanzagrotty was a place for Wayne and Waynetta.

It is and it isn't ...you can eat in a british branded bar and eat a full english breakfast at 4pm with a pint if you want, and stay in a cheap villa for a few grand, but on the other end of the scale is authentic local cuisine and 5 star hotel like this http://www.princesayaiza.com/ in Playa Blanca.

Went to the Princesa Yaiza for Christmas, in 2008. It was, quite frankly, fabulous.

We didn't have Christmas dinner there, though, as they wanted €325 off us for two adults and one two year old child for their "gala dinner", and as I'd just lost my job I baulked a bit at that.

Instead we went down to El Mirador, a ten minute walk away, and had a lovely Christmas Day dinner in 24°C warmth on a sunny afternoon, on a terrace looking over the sea to Fuertaventura, for a rather more reasonable €87 (inc. drinks).

Nobody called Wayne or Waynetta in the vicinity.

This is where my wife has booked us for the week> http://www.suitehotelalyssa.com/en/

I await horror stories of raves and noisy boy racers.

Stayed at the Yaizi a few times - great hotel but very family orientated. How can anyone not like a breakfast buffet that includes champagne and doughnuts?

I'd almost forgotten about that

Christmas Day morning was great, they had a special show on for the kids and they all got presents. Which was nice.

We have been loads of times, It has Wayne & Waynetta bits, but on the whole its a great island.

We once got a good cheap deal to Benidorm, we were unsure but it was such a good deal we decided to risk it, one of the best holidays we have had, its easy to avoid what you don't like.

Been to Lanzagrotty and Playa Blanca a few times, always had a great time. As others have said you can easily avoid the Waynes and Waynetteas, the Marina is a bit more refined. In fact the last we went was on our 25th wedding anniversary and I will never forget sitting by the sea outside one of the restaurants on the outskirts of the Marina, sipping champagne while watching the sun go down .... magic. In actual fact Mrs W and I were wondering where to go for our hols this year and you've just reminded me how good Lanzarote is, might be going back there soon!
