chavvy on the ground floor the wife said but really rather posh and lovely further up

I ride through Stratford in both directions most weeks, it's one way granted but nothing for anyone competent in London traffic to worry about, a fair bit of primary, lane chaning called for in places sometime I'll admit

I just hate it. Maybe because the gyratory is the only time I have ever been subjected to real, proper road-rage on a cycle. They keep opening up the bus lane to all road users which invites idiots speeding to jump the queue and close pass cyclists. And the A11 into Stratford isn't for the faint of heart. Car speeds generally are too high and the number of lunatics using the one-way system seems higher than other areas. I agree on the primary bit - it is the best option, but sometimes daunting for me and I consider myself a fairly seasoned London cyclist.

I did have a bit of a walk around the area today, and the bus station area has been improved somewhat, but it still a pretty horrid walking environment with the multi-lane roads intersecting the whole area. Taking it back to two way and remodelling the whole road system could make Stratford a really pleasant place - the old high street on the other side with the church has the remnants of a nice high road.

Well, I did have a quick look, and couldn't see the 1000+ cycle parking places they talk about. They say they are near the entrances - considering the main entrance I went to had huge flights of stairs any stands at the top of that are somewhat pointless. Loads and loads of cycles tied to the railings around the station though, so either the cycle parking isn't near the station entrance or the regular cyclists haven't found them either. If you go during the day, I doubt it will be an issue to tie the cycles to the railings by the station.

I went Friday and parked at cycle ranks by front entrance. Fairly secure as lots of people milling around. After popping into the centre, I got back on the bicycle and cycled around it to see if I could spot any other cycle parking stands and only saw the once at the back end of the centre on the left. Plenty of spaces but not the safest place due to lack of people being around. I also made note that there was no signage to where cycle parking was or on the display info in many of the entry points around the site.

The least they could do is highlight where you can park your cycle on any map of the centre

I must have a closer look. I cycled around the gyratory and dismounted at the pedestrian crossing before Angel Lane - the area leading to the main station entrance. Had a look, but there are loads of stairs or an escalator to Westfield - neither of which I was prepared to take a bicycle up.

Looking here, it doesn't exactly look simple to get near the complex via cycle. Not a problem if I could ever find a cycle stand by the old centre..

I am guessing going up Warton Road from the south, or trying to use Leyton Road entrance from the North is best - but when I went past the Leyton Road entrance it didn't exactly have an abundance of cycling signs, so not sure if you can use that.

ridiculous,
do the people who install these things not have any sense

utilities go into the ground months before any sort of topping goes down. we generally don't get to know what the pavement will end up designated as. I am currently moving several lamposts out of a road on the park as the road has been moved 300mm . the cabling and posts went in about this time last year and are in to within 10mm ( god its good having tolerances that big !!! ) of the dimensions on the drawings
