If it was "worth it" then the govt would offer the vaccine free to everybody like MMR..... The vaccine works "best" in selected groups which is why those groups get it free. Tricky set of stats to work on though.
Well obviously there is a limited amount of money available or free vaccinations for everything would be offered to everyone.
I have a flu jab because I am in one of the government selected groups. If I wasn't, I could get it free through my occupational health at work. If I couldn't, I would choose to pay for it as the limited benefit seems worth risking a red, sore arm

And the majority of the deaths were in young, healthy adults

Whilst I firmly believe in immunisation, I think its a stretch to call those who died of Spanish 'flu as healthy. Isn't it a well accepted fact that Spanish 'flu was, in part, so lethal because the populations of Europe were so malnourished and sickly as a result of the war? It's certainly not hard to imagine that few populations were as healthy as they usually were.

The point of evidence based medicine is that conventional wisdom is changed when there is just that. Evidence.

Exactly. It doesn’t mean that before the evidence proves something it’s not true.

Today, companies produce evidence in order to sell products. Very little is done purely to promote public health. Every study has to find funding sponsors.

Out of interest, what system do you choose when deciding who to believe?

Oh, and to those accusing me of spreading lies, please note the links to statistics were on the CDC website, the biggest advocate for and buyer of vaccines on the planet, and these free hires are supposed to justify widespread vaccination.

They may well be lies, but if so they will be overstating the efficacy of vaccines.

Well, it just shows you can’t trust all sources (perhaps you read the same books as our Sigmaringen friend).

700,000 British soldiers (not counting any civilians) died in WW1 - in the Spanish Flu epidemic, 228,000 people in total died in the UK.

228,000 is less than 700,000.

Though Stanford university state that the pandemic killed more people than the war.

If they were in Liverpool in 1918, then there is a strong likelihood they weren’t ‘healthy’, even if they were young.

The Spanish ‘flu pandemic was what led to the establishment of the NHS in NZ.

I had my first free flu jab last week administered by the practice nurse, she asked if I would like a pneumonia jab as well, so I had a a flu jab in one arm and the pneumonia jab in the other.

The first question she asked was " are you allergic to eggs" I thought I was getting a sandwich.
I was advised, by the nurse, to not have them at the same time in case I had a reaction to one. They wouldn’t know which caused the problem.

Can't argue with that . My point was that mass Flu vaccination including healthy adults has no sound evidence base. I only mentioned it because someone brought up evidence based medicine.

Well you did link to Mercola, so that supports your claim.

Ok, the reality is this.

Due to the revolving doors between government, big pharma, banks, and other industries. This is no secret, even the BBC have documentaries on the subject.

Public health policy is therefore compromised by vested interests, and outside influence. The extent of this is alarming, even in the UK. Then look at America, where every career politician has to get funding for every election.

But I accept, you've got to be ready to open your eyes to this stuff, to have an open mind. It's just too challenging for most people. But please, if you're not ready, don't just condemn or judge those who have opened their eyes. In a few years, you'll regret it. It's not worth arguing over this, I won't convince anybody who is not ready, and they certainly won't convince me that the government drugs companies and medical profession all have our best interests at heart, and it's just a crazy conspiracy theory, and not relevant about the clearly visible revolving doors.

Anyway, just back from a ride, so feeling too good to put any more focus into this. Good luck to everybody, whatever their views!
