Alot of walkers look at you like you've got 2 heads when you say good morning.

The trick is to only have one head in their view. 🤣

The current white-socks-over-tights trend makes no sense for winter—particularly if mudguards are considered unfashionable. Do these people genuinely ride for long in winter conditions?
This is hilarious. Why would you do it?

My real question though is where does this happen? Honestly, we never see this sort of thing up here in Lancashire. Is it something all them fancy Dans darn sarf do? Or am I spectacularly unobservant??

I am beginning to worry. For 25 years I've ridden black, grey or titanium bikes. One has red highlights! I've ordered a new bike. It's deep racing green - it was that or white and cherry. 😱 Have I, in my dotage, begun to make a fashion statement?

I wear black bibs or tights. Single colour tops. The colour must be a visible but understated. If I'm wearing a buff or gilet I do like to coordinate these with my top. Is this serious bling? Mea culpa.

One of my buddies has orange highlights on his bike. Bar tape, detail on the bar bag and bottle cages. Sometimes he wears an orange jersey and for very special occasions orange overshoes.

Clearly Lancashire is leading the way.

I like to join a club where they cycle Wednesday morning to a cafe and eat cake....

Problem is I'm still 20yrs away from being in that position!!

My club does that.

Perhaps they are all in on the trend, but their socks are filthy because they don't use mudguards.

My Mrs ain't bothered about cycling at all , I prefer a group ride in case something was to happen there is somebody who can call an ambulance
Yes, I'm inclined to agree. Mrs P is far happier if I'm with my friends. She always asks who I'm going with.

I used to tour solo but after two life-threatening health scares I wouldn't again. I once mentioned some ideas I had. My wife said nothing other than to ask "Do you really think that's a good idea?"

I do miss solo tours. I didn't do many but I'd love to do more. Sadly not. I'm considering a group, escorted tour for the future.

Do you not have Wahoo tracking ride etc or Whatsapp location on? Lots of things these days which can track your ride in real time which is sent to whoever you want. Obs it doesn't let them know if an accident but it does show if you are stopped. A couple of times I've stopped and been faffing for a while or puncture and my wife noticed and rung me etc to check I'm not dead. It's a peace of mind thing. These do of course rely on having phone signal so in some areas that could be an issue.
Anyway, owt is better than nowt as they say.

A lot of cyclists join clubs....not me, never been a clubbie and probably never will be.

A lot of cyclists have buddies who they go out with....not me, I've been riding alone for the whole of my cycling life.

And I think every cyclist has the obligatory cafe stop during their rides, at least on longer rides....not me. I can safely say I have never stopped for refreshments at any cafe on any journey in all the years I've been cycling. I might pop into a garage for top ups but that's it.

A lot of cyclists do this Zwift thing, it seems to be quite the craze....not me.

However, I may be turning the corner. Today I downloaded Strava for the very first time and went out on a very short "tester" ride. I've never done anything like that in all my years. I just have a basic cycling computer.

Most cyclists, if not all cyclists, do normal cyclist stuff, nothing wrong with that. There are lots of things I haven't done but you don't miss what you've never had, right?

I was wondering if there were any other funny cookies out there who, like me, just do your own thing.

I suspect we all ‘do our own thing’, but that quite often it aligns with the ‘own thing’ of others.
