bit of a long shot this but my laptop is playing up and i can't find the driver installation disk . has anyone got one they could copy for me please ?
My model is the G6000 series :hungry:

Yes but different model and it came with no disks. HP always partition the drive and dump drivers on the small partition.

HP website is very good though. There's a utility to detect the model and present the updated drivers for it.

yes it has a factory restore partition on it but if you use that you lose all the software you have installed and all your internet and email setting etc its hours of work restoring it all :hungry:

You should also have a System Recovery Program under Programs with Application and Driver recovery within, from which you should be able to access any of the installed programs or drivers individualy. Not got one?

Ahh, fair dinkum. As far as I remember, which is back to Compaq, they never ship disks. My memory is often imperfect though but certainly mine came with none.

You can always download a copy of DriveMax and backup all your drives before you format your HD.

You can get a copy of DriveMax from download.com

I hope that helps

thanks but I don't need to back up I've already done that . The problem with formatting is reinstalling all the bits and bobs that we take for granted. ISP ,emails, bookmarks, photo editing software x2 , Video editing software x3office suite, corel suite ,CAD, winzip, adobe, etc etc etc takes about 5-6 hours work including configuring everything.:becool:

If the installation was any good I'd clone it with Ghost but it keeps BSOD

Drivers should all be listed on HP's website (you obviously have internet access :becool:). You'll need the exact model number (G6000 is just the chassis number) which will be on a sticker on the underside. There may be a folder in your C: drive called 'Drivers', that would contain all the installation files for the original set of drivers.

There are very few PC'sNotebooks that come with Driver discs now, most require you to make a recovery disc when first set up but that wouldn't solve your issue anyway by the sounds of it.
TBH, once a machine starts to BSOD, you're looking a a full restore to make it stable again. The BS should tell you some of what the cause was, what does it say?

I'll be honest and say that doesn't suprise me
What's the model then? I'll see if I can dig something up here.

all of them if I format but I want to make sure I have all drivers before I start mucking about with the os.
I've only got an Anytime upgrade vista disk so I can't do a Windows repair with it

Hmm... The listing does seem rather short. Which particular driver are you looking for?
