Is 10 seconds turning a barrel adjuster too much to ask?
No, is finding out you should have done it at the start of the ride and instead you get chain slippage halfway through your attempt on a Strava segment mildly annoying - yes. It's hardly essential but is a nice to have so if its there why not?

No, I was being somewhat facetious. Its just a case of getting a new bike, what's the nicest riding experience for my money? At the end of the day I live in the Fens so anything beyond Sturmey Archer is totally extraneous to requirements but its nice to have a bit of luxury now and again

I didn't realise you could only shift one gear at a time on 10sp di2, that could get tedious pretty quickly.
.

Not in reality because you just tap it, you don't have to push to the same extent of a normal shifter. You can get some amazingly fast shifts if you learn the correct technique. I can shift though all gears on 10 speed Dura-Ace Di2 faster than I can on 11 speed Ultergea Di2

Thanks for all the info. I found a SRAM Red non-HiMod model at about the same price as the Di2 in the end and bought that, as reading all of this made me realise the Di2 wasn't quite for me. Appreciate all the tips and knowledge though, really useful.
