Anyone here from Kilmarnock?

In your first image: the loop north east is doable and you have pavement the entire way, but the route once you turn right won't be very fun as that's a busy road.
In your second image: the road that skirts the north side of Crosshouse Hospital towards Knockentiber is not suitable for running, has no footpath and while it looks good on streetview, it's a rat run road.

Bruce's route: can vouch for most of it, particularly the southern half of it which was directly on my commute. Although as he says, it would be sketchy at night - single track with no pavement, but I've never seen a car go down there.

A loop via Gatehead might be acceptable, at 3.7 miles. You have pavement the entire way, and a stretch of greenery between Gatehead and Crosshouse. The southernmost section can be busy with trucks at certain times of day, though. (I don't miss that part of my commute.)

I think the thread should be re-titled as 'Would anyone admit to coming from Kilmarnock in polite company?' ^_^

Thanks everyone, it'll be dark day the time I'm out so I'll probably stick to route A, and go further into town before I turn around to add a bit of distance on.

Used to regularly see Marvin on the bus. Not a nice area, but a disgraceful show.

This. 100% this. Of all the poverty porn shows it was easily the lowest of the low.
