I'm looking at getting a Pro Carbon on a bike to work arrangement, but am struggling with sizing. Is there anyone near Reading or Windsor with a medium or large that wouldn't mind letting me sit on theirs so I can decide on frame size?

I'm 5'10 with 32.5" inside leg so I'm in between sizes and it varies from one manufacturer or model to another.

The medium will fit you fine if you want an aggressive position on the bike.
I have a medium Pro carbon for that reason. I am 6'0" with a 32" inside leg.
If you want a bit more of an upright position(more comfortable possibly) definitely go for the large.
I hope this helps you a bit at least.

Thanks, that's very useful. I need a more upright position due to flexibility issues with my neck. I am a mixed bag of body sizes with strange flex issues meaning I have to go by feel to a large extent rather than numbers.

2 bikes with quite similar geometry can feel very different to me. The online calculator at competitive cyclist recommended a large frame with 50mm saddle setback, but I would probably stuggle to see the front wheel on that setup, never mind the road ahead!

I was looking at getting a bike fit, but wondered if there was any point in doing that with my current bike? Another option is a fitting with a Planet X dealer in St Albans, but it's trucky for me to get to.

Day trip to Sheffield?

Not the same bike, but I'm a similar height albeit with longer legs, lots of joint issues - I just got a medium 54cm RT58 if you compare the geometries

According to google maps, that would take me around 15 hours each way!

It might be quicker to go by car than to cycle up there!

Indeed. Still a bit of a trek + fuel though. I'm keeping an eye out for local ebay auctions too.

I'm the same size as you, with a 54cm RT58. You are welcome to come to Sutton and ride it (or I could come West a bit)

You'd need to compare the geometries

Thank you so much vickster. I'm just worried about comparing geometries as it doesn't seem to make sense compared to sitting on the specific frame. I sat on a few bikes at Evans and found one particular bike too stretched out for me yet another with similar sized top tube was just right. Obviously there were slight differences in seat tube angle or something else, but the differences were very small and I couldn't quite work out what exactly was influencing the feel.

I just spoke to the Planet X dealer in St. Albans again and they have a medium Pro Carbon in the shop so I'm going to try and get there on Saturday.

Thanks for the offer.
