How easy would the Templar and Edward street car parks be to accsess? Would I still get caught in the same trafic as most of Leeds looks like one way streets.
No - you'll be caught up in the 'get me to the Arena on time' melee.

Once you get anywhere approaching the Headrow it'll be gridlock as you approach the Arena.

Nearest I'd chance it would be Victoria Car Park. but it ain't cheap!

Hi.

I work in Lovell Park quite regularly. There are two car parks one in Merrion way (Which is probably the one you tried) and the other in the shopping centre on Merrion Street. Merrion street is a Q park so not cheap. There is also parking in Templar street which is pay and display. I have not used the other one. hope that helps. You might also find on street parking on Lovell park road outside the Lloyds building if you are lucky though it looks dodgy. Parking in the city centre is a mare with the one way system. As others have said might be worth looking at the outskirts or leaving your car at a train station and training it in. Hope this helps.

I don't know, but in my experience, Leeds is frankly bloody awful to drive round. I prefer to deposit the rolling iron on the perifery and walk, but I tend to do that anyway, not just Leeds.

It is for 'outsiders' but if you know where you're going it's great. It's designed to be quick with minimal stops at traffic lights so no thinking time - which is why 'outsiders' find it problematic; miss your junction and it's either a long way round to get back or you need local knowledge to rectify.

I have spent many a late night driving through Leeds seeing where I want to go but unable to get there and going round and round. I now stay in the Novotel and park there, £12 and leave it there as long as you like though it is a tight fit in especially if you have a large car.

I'll be driving from Sheffield. We had no idea where we were going last time so (like the whole arena seemed to be doing) we opted for the car park next door. I think we spent an hour and a half in a queue that was no more than a few hundred yards long.

Yep, that queue sounds about right for the Merrion car park.

Assuming you'll be using the M1/M621, head into the city centre off the motorway past Bridgewater Place, straight under the Dark Arches and onto the Loop around City Square.
Stay on the loop up Quebec Street and take the left onto St Paul's Street.
Park anywhere around there or Park Square on the street (pay and display). It's a 10 minute walk past the Town Hall and over Millennium Square to the Arena.
After the show, you're easily away and onto the Armley Gyratory and back to the motorway.

Makes the whole thing so much easier and you avoid almost all the arena traffic.:okay:

On other nights I might agree but three potential snags as I see it:
  1. you'd be following the same route as other Steelers heading for the Merrion Centre car parks and may find yourself in the mother of all queues before you even get to City Square
  2. you're relying on on street parking being available where you're going. This is by no means certain on a Friday night, especially with a sell out at the Arena
  3. in the event of 2. you have no plan 'B' and Dino the dinosaur will be playing to an almost full Arena for the first half of the show

This may not be an option for all of you- but my daughter gets the train from Sheffield to Leeds and walks from the station... then you miss all the hassle of driving around and around the central one way system- probably much quicker too!

Or you could try this:
double child seat.JPG

Riese & Muller Load NuVinci - a snip at £5,318, two kiddie seats and electric assist with a claimed 90 mile range should just get you there and back :bicycle:

It's a possibility, and the slightest thing can bring the whole Loop to a standstill (and every other road within a mile!), but it's never been an issue.

Well we made it here just in time and the traffic was relatively painless. We ended up parking in the Trafalgar car park as we got a little lost. Only a short walk and should make getting out of here a little easier also.

Kids are hyped and ready to go.

Panic over. Thanks for the help
