I had propane for my static for years and it never froze once. The main difference between the two is simply propane for outside use as it continues to convert from liquid to gas during arctic conditions whereas butane doesn't. Maybe there was condensation in the regular that was causing the lines to freeze or somesuch but I doubt the actual gas bottle froze, or it certainly shouldn't have.

Orange cylinders are propane and blue ones are butane.

The blue ones have a traditional right hand thread which prevents the wrong gas being connected to the appliance.

I'm not sure of the difference, but one burns hotter than the other.
All flammable gas cylinder have a left hand thread to avoid inadvertently connecting them to appliances that use non flammable gasses.
Butane boils off at approximately - 2°c, whereas Propane boils off at approximately -40°c. This makes Propane more suitable for applications in colder ambient temperarures.

So... This reverse thread business...am I right in thinking that means that to unscrew, I have to go clockwise when I'm looking towards the bottle?

He got in, but someone closed the valve, leaving him trapped with no signal.
