Hannah Arendt.....Eichmann in Jerusalem: A report on the banality of evil.

An interesting anaysis of morality and shared culpability of the Holocaust and the moral basis for punishment......i recommend it.

Just read 'Anathem' by Neal Stephenson. Very big long read, but worth it. He, more than any other speculative fiction I've recently read, has built an entirely believable world and one you can just immerse yourself in. It's a grown up book too, in that it forces you to think. My respect for the man Stephenson just grows and grows.

Charles Willeford and Tom Kakonis aren't very well known but are both a great read nontheless for American crime stories, +1 for Raymond Chandler too.

My favourite British writer is Miles Gibson - an overlooked genius - pick up anything by him and you're guaranteed an entertaining read.

Finally all the Kurt Wallander murder stories by that Swedish bloke whose name escapes me are absolutely brilliant.

Henning Mankell - all his books are good actually

Agree if you like detective stuff, Harry Connelly is excellant. Tess Gerrittsen (sp??) is also very good if a bit gruesome at times.
